WEST WARWICK, R.I.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
AstroNova, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALOT), a global leader in data visualization
technologies and a leading provider of flight deck printers, networking
hardware and related accessories, today announced that it has received
an FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Supplemental Type Certificate
(STC) for the retrofit installation of its ToughWriter® 5 flight deck
data printer on six models of the Boeing 737 Next Generation (NG)
aircraft.
The STC approval allows retrofits of existing flight deck printers in
the Boeing 737-600, -700, -700C, -800, -900 and -900ER Series aircraft.
“This STC opens a major aircraft retrofit market worldwide, providing
B737NG aircraft with an upgrade path for older flight deck printers,”
said AstroNova President and CEO Greg Woods. “Significant operational
improvements can be gained by updating older aircraft to the ToughWriter
5. The typical 40 percent reduction in printer weight creates fuel
savings, while the ToughWriter 5’s high reliability lowers maintenance
costs.”
The ToughWriter 5 is the world's smallest and lightest ARINC 744A flight
deck printer. At less than 9 pounds and just 7.3 inches deep, the
ToughWriter 5 meets the commercial transport aircraft demands for
efficient design without sacrificing quality or capability.
“We value the trust that the aerospace industry has placed in our
technology and the confidence in our ability to deliver world-class
service and support,” Woods said. “Receiving this STC broadens our
leadership in the flight deck printer industry and expands the
opportunities to supply our customers with value-added products.”
